Say No to Religious Fascism

Although I hate socialism, I don't think it presents the biggest threat to liberty today. No one takes Marx seriously nowadays.

Unlike socialism, envirofascism and religious fundamentalism are beginning to triumph. They are the most dangerous threats now.

I have long known that religious fundamentalism was spreading in the U.S. and Islamic countries but only now I see it extending its putrid tentacles over the bastion of freedom in the Middle East - Israel. Far from repelling the Islamofascist threat, Israel may succumb to a religious fascism of its own. Too bad…

I don't know what you think, but I see envirofascism as a greater threat to liberty than communism. The communists were delusional about unleashing the forces of the industrial revolution to emancipate man from wage-labor. Environmentalists do not even purport to be about emancipation, but about relegating man to the moral equivalent of worms and locusts, to be caged in, enslaved with "carbon taxes," and regulated to no more than a servant of a permanent eco-fascist oligarchy. On the moral level, it is anti-humanistic and scares the bejeezus out of me.

Well, it may be true, but I think the threat of religious fundamentalism is as dangerous as that of envirofascism (unlike socialism and communism, which are dead QUA IDEOLOGIES and only persist because of pragmatism). The ARI guys even believe religious fascism and environmentalist fascism may merge. Anyway, environmentalism is becoming more and more of a religion. Perhaps it will grow into a new cult that will either merge with or supplant Christianity. Or Christianity may prove stronger and absorb envirofascism. Both scenarios are extremely bad. We're gonna face some nasty Dark Ages, compared to which the Soviet Union was a liberty-loving and humane state. Faith and force may completely replace reason and freedom.

By the way, consider the striking similarity - both envirofascism and Christianity are fundamentally ANTI-MAN - anti-humanistic. Both seek to sacrifice man to an allegedly superior entity - God or Nature. The Western capitalist civilization, on the other hand, is fundamentally MAN-CENTERED, not God-centered or nature-centered or whatever.

I meant to comment earlier that this phrase is one of the more brilliant insights you've come up with: "(S)ocialism and communism...are dead QUA IDEOLOGIES and only persist because of pragmatism." That is right on the money.
