Ominous Parallels

In 1936, Stalin banned abortion to stimulate the birth rate.

Need I say more?

Yes, you can say more. Did you know that North Korea allows abortion? It also starves people to death. Don't you see the connection?

It's not intended as a formal proof (I'll provide one later). The fact that abortion is opposesed by Islamofascists and was banned by Stalin could just be a kind of impetus for re-thinking your position. The anti-abortion stance is a mentality fit for the Middle Ages, and these references are just statistical evidence for that - most of those who vehemently oppose abortion are either religious fanatics or (in Stalin's case) just totalitarian bastards.

Well, I'm not either a religious fanatic or totalitarian - I just think that ending life anytime from conception on is arbitrary. I think one person's liberty ends where another person's life begins.

Exactly, the crucial point is defining a person. I'll argue later that defining a piece of protoplasm inside someone's body as a person is extremely absurd.

You can call it a " fetus," a "zygote," or "protoplasm," but whatever you call "it" it grows into an adult human being provided nourishment and protection. The same can be aid of a two-year old. You are aware that our regulation czar Cass Sunstein advocates murdering two-year olds, exploiting the same logic that you display here? The dividing line of being inside or outside of a mother is arbitrary. Young human beings require nourishment and protection, that does not negate the fact that they are human beings (i.e. living organisms possessing human DNA). The fact of being physically dependent on another human being does not negate it's nature as a human being.
