Georgia Against Antitrust

Georgia is one of the most libertarian countries in the world (I’m not kidding). In 2005 it abolished its antitrust regulator but now European socialist bastards are pressuring Georgia to restore it.

I'm actually writing a research article on Russia's economic sanctions against Georgia, and was surprised by just how defiant Saakashvili is of Russian foreign economic policy. Like Russia, Georgia also has a flat tax - of 12% (not Russia's 13%). But it seems to me that Georgia does not have a lot of the hidden taxes that Russia has. Can you comment on this? I am not too familiar with the tax codes of these states and not sure where to look exactly. Thanks, RJ

As to hidden taxes, that is true. Since corruption has been drastically reduced in Georgia, the overall tax and corruption burden is very small (unlike in Russia, which is getting more and more corrupt). Well, Georgia ranks highly both in the tax aspect of the Economic Freedom Index and the the Forbes Tax Misery & Reform Index. You can check those. Or do you need something more substantial? I can ask a Georgian acquaintance of mine, Avigdor.

Btw, who are you writing the article for?

It is for the M.A. requirement. I already have nearly enough credits to stand for the PhD., but I am grabbing the Master's along the way. Thanks for the info. RJ
